Idle Church of England Primary School

Our Governance

Welcome from Nicola Roth, Chair of Governors

Welcome from Nicola Roth Chair of Governors On behalf of the Governors,

I would like to thank you for your interest in Idle Church of England VA Primary School.

Idle is a school rooted in Christian values, where our vision 'Providing everyone with opportunities to thrive through faith, learning and shared goals: growing together. We foster bravery in facing challenges, celebrate teamwork and nuture a spirit of helping others' guides all that we do as a school community. We are proud of our inclusive and nurturing environment, where children are encouraged to grow spiritually, academically and socially. Our school is built on this foundation of Christian values, with love, courage, and joy guiding our actions – characteristics we know our school community lives and champions every day.

As chair of governors it’s my role to ensure that governance works effectively, that the school is well managed and that its resources are used to provide the best possible education for the children at Idle. It’s also the role of governors to ensure that the school provides the best possible start to a lifelong learning journey for our pupils, meeting  national standards and ensuring each child reaches their full potential. As a voluntary aided Church of England school we work closely with the Diocese of Leeds and with Bradford Local Authority and listen to parents and others who have an interest in helping and working with us. Governors are also there to provide challenge and support to the school’s senior leaders.

Our governing board has a maximum of twelve members, each serving a 4 year term of office. 6 of those are foundation governors appointed by the Church of England, Leeds Diocese, one of whom is the vicar of Holy Trinity Church in Idle. There are 2 parent governors, elected by parents, two staff governors one of which is the headteacher, one co-opted governor and one governor appointed by the Local Authority. The chair of governors, and vice chair, are members of the governing board elected by members for a 2 year period. We meet as a board a minimum of nine times a year

Governors come from a variety of backgrounds and each bring a wealth of experience, skills and ideas to the governing board.

If you would like to join the governing Board or know of any member of the community who would like to support Idle C of E Primary, then please do not hesitate to contact me through the school office.
