Moving from Reception into Year One is an exciting milestone and an important step in your child’s learning journey. While children begin to follow the National Curriculum, we recognise the importance of a smooth and nurturing transition. Learning remains engaging, practical and enjoyable, with opportunities for children to explore, discover and develop through a range of hands-on activities.
Throughout the year, children will gradually become more accustomed to a structured school day, building their confidence as they develop their listening, concentration and independence skills. We create a supportive environment where children feel happy, secure and ready to take on new challenges while maintaining the curiosity and enthusiasm that foster a love of learning.
Phonics continues to play a key role in Year One and is an essential foundation for reading and writing. Through daily phonics sessions, children will further develop their knowledge of sounds and letter patterns, helping them to become increasingly fluent and confident readers. As the year progresses, many children make remarkable strides in their reading and communication skills, and we take great pride in supporting them every step of the way.
In Year One, we celebrate every child’s achievements and encourage them to be resilient, independent and enthusiastic learners. We look forward to working closely with families to ensure every child enjoys a happy, successful and rewarding year as they continue their journey through primary school.
