As the final year of Key Stage Two, Year Six is an exciting and memorable stage in your child’s primary school journey. It is a year filled with opportunities for children to grow in confidence, independence and responsibility as they prepare for the transition to secondary school. We are committed to supporting every pupil to become a motivated, resilient and reflective learner who is ready to embrace new challenges and achieve their full potential.
Throughout the year, children will build upon the strong foundations established in previous years, consolidating and extending their skills in reading, writing and mathematics while continuing to enjoy a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum. Learning is designed to be both challenging and inspiring, with opportunities for practical activities, educational visits, collaborative projects and creative experiences that bring the curriculum to life.
In Year Six, we encourage children to take increasing ownership of their learning, developing the organisational skills, resilience and self-belief needed for the next stage of their education. We promote high expectations, perseverance and a positive attitude, helping pupils to understand that effort and determination are key to success. Alongside academic achievement, we place great value on personal development, ensuring that children leave primary school as confident, responsible and compassionate individuals.
We look forward to working closely with families throughout the year to make every child’s final year of primary school a happy, successful and unforgettable experience.
