Our School Day

 At Idle C of E Primary School, we pride ourselves on providing a structured, engaging and supportive school day that enables all children to thrive.

Start of the Day

The school gates open at 9am and children are welcomed into school ready to begin their learning promptly.

Morning registration takes place between 9am and 9:10am followed by collective worship.


Morning Learning

Each morning we begin the day with 'Collective Worship' at 9:15am in the school hall.

The morning is focused on core subjects such as English, Phonics and Mathematics, alongside opportunities to develop wider skills and knowledge.


Breaktime

Children enjoy a break giving them time to play, socialise and have a healthy snack of fruit of vegetables

Year 1 and Year 2 (KS1): 2:00pm - 2:15pm 

Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 (KS2): 11:00am - 11:15am


Lunchtime

In Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, lunchtime runs from 11:30am until 12:30pm

In Year 3, 4, 5 and 6, lunchtime runs from 12:00pm until 1:00pm

Children can enjoy a healthy school meal or bring a packed lunch. There is time for outdoor play and relaxation.

Across lunchtime, children can enjoy varying sporting activities, nurture club or art club.


Afternoon Learning

Afternoons include a broad and balanced curriculum, including subjects such as RE, science, history, geography, art and physical education.


End of the Day

The school day ends at 3:30pm.

Staff ensure that all children are dismissed safely to parents and carers.


Wraparound Care (if applicable)

We are pleased to offer wraparound care through The Ark, a church-led provision based on our school site.

The Ark provides a safe, fun and nurturing environment where children can relax, play and enjoy time with friends before and after school. 

  • Breakfast Club: 7:30am – 9:00am (breakfast available) 
  • After-School Care: 3:30pm – 6:00pm (includes a cooked meal) 

Led by an experienced and caring team, The Ark offers a variety of activities including games, crafts and outdoor play, creating a welcoming “home away from home” for our pupils.

Places are limited and must be booked directly with The Ark.
